Fri-Yay

Happy Friday! It's an off-Friday for husby, which means I'll get to fit in a mid-morning Pure Barre class, followed by a family walk downtown for lunch (taking advantage of our fabulous weather today!). We are one full work-week into January and here's what I'm loving today...

1. I'm embracing winter. Usually when January rolls around, I'm all about Valentine's Day. After all, it is my favorite holiday. But this year, we had that long weekend after NYE, which would have been the perfect time to bring all the pink heart goodness out. And something stopped me (besides my being slow-moving from the ginormous four-course fondue dinner we enjoyed in Nashville with our friends the night before and the copious amounts of new year's champagne consumed). I didn't want to gloss over snowmen and penguins and all things winter, for the sake of my sweet little man for whom it's all fresh and new. So instead of a bookcase of Valentine's stories, he's boasting winter books in the playroom right now (we also checked some out at the library).

We're making winter themed crafts (like the too-cute-for-words footprint painting above) and talking all about the new season. And I feel perfectly present and loving it. (Not that this stopped me from bringing in a little pink heart goodness prematurely.)

2. Speaking of pink, I've noticed a theme around the house that pink keeps popping up in our decor. In the art, the pillows, the blankets. When we were first married, I tried very consciously to not bring in pink since our home was a shared space and pink isn't too manly. Then I gave birth to a little man, leaving me outnumbered. In a house full of men, I feel I need pink and girly items now to compensate! So this pretty Teil Duncan print is on its way:

And I have my eye on this one as well:

3. Date Night! Max and I are headed off to see the Star Wars movie (finally) this weekend, just us two. Awhile back, I went to look for recent photos of just Max and me, and there were pitifully few. With a non-stop toddler that's the center of our universe, we rarely get a photo taken of the two of us by ourselves. This one was a happy accident! We literally couldn't get our toddler to stop moving for our family Christmas photo, so Max's sister snapped this one of just us instead.

Meanwhile, I think Parker was off somewhere eating dirt. Not literally, he just looked like it by the time he got back to us.

I grew up watching Full House religiously with my two sisters and can't wait to see the new Netflix spin-off! Who's with me?? It's going to make me all sorts of nostalgic for California, I can feel it. Not to mention the fact I needed tissues just to get through the trailer. Also, can we talk about Kimmy Gibler's outfit? I'm twelve sorts of happy that they kept her character oh-so-quirky.

5. Picking up another pack of this yummy limited edition brew before they're all gone is on my to-do list! How cute is the label? It just screams cold January day to me.

Cheers to the weekend!

    1. Aww, thank you!! Those were all last-minute outfits. The cozy layered outfits had to go out the window because it was so hot the day we headed outside to take photos!

  3. I love that snowman footprint - I have to do that with Mila... so cute! Those shots of you and Max are absolutely perfect - a definite framer! Fuller House, yes please. I loved TGIF growing up and I will definitely be tuning in to Netflix for this!

  4. Let me just say that you two are too cute!! I love "honest" photos. My husband and I celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary this year and I'm going to have photos taken of just us at our wedding venue because a) I dislike our wedding photos and b) we have no good photos of us anymore thanks to the toddler being so cute and photogenic.
