40 Week Bumpdate: Surprise!

Exactly one week ago today, I posted my 39 Week Bumpdate, predicting that baby would stay cooking for at least another week. At 2am the next morning, I went into labor! Apparently baby had other plans and wanted to make an early entrance! At 5:01pm that night, Monday March 18th, we welcomed baby Parker Campbell Klein into the world. Our family of three photo taken just a short couple of hours later:

Our precious son weighed in at 7 lbs. 5 ounces and measured 20.75 inches long. Max and I have loved the name Parker for the whole pregnancy. Parker's middle name, Campbell, is also the city where we had our first date :)

More to come about Parker's birth story! For now, we are soaking in all the time we can with our sweet, sweet newborn!

Bumpdate: 39 Weeks

Hello, 39 Weeks! The bean's lease is officially up in 5 days! Part of me is so sad that I won't feel kicks and hiccups anymore, but a larger part of me is happy to not need help tying my shoes!  I'm getting tons and tons of Braxton Hicks now (several every hour) and I'm up at night with random back contractions but none that are regular - which means baby might keep cooking even past the due date!

Max and I were out and about this weekend, and we were asked lots of questions from strangers about how far along we were. It was so much fun to be able to just say "Friday!" when asked about the due date!

We had fun at the grocery store looking at the watermelons...

I can't believe our little watermelon will be here before the month is over!

Maternity Photo Shoots :)

I'm super lucky that husby has played photographer every single week during this pregnancy with our chalkboard photos, plus additionally every month outside with the monthly milestone pictures. Somehow, I also got Max to play photographer for this cute photo idea (I was 38 Weeks and one day when we shot it - totally ready to pop!)

We also took some bare belly pictures at 35 Weeks:

And "Family of 2.5" pictures with the tripod that same day:

Thank you to my sweet husby photographer!

Nine Months!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: +35

Maternity Clothes: Are getting snug! I went walking with a neighbor and her five-year-old daughter this week, wearing one of the maternity shirts I bought toward the beginning of pregnancy. The five year old pointed to my bare belly that was peeking out and exclaimed “Miss Mande your shirt is too small!”

Cravings: Cheeseburgers, chocolate milkshakes, Chipotle burritos, and cold bubbly water with lemon

Movement: Little one has gotten so strong! Kicks and rolls are huge now. The bean also thinks it’s fun to kick my ribs. We had an ultrasound at 37 weeks that confirmed baby’s legs are all bunched up next to my ribs, ready for kicking. Max has taken to calling baby “The Blender” now.

Aversions: Max noticed I’ve been leaving the chicken on my plate whenever I make it for dinner. I usually love chicken, just not really a fan these days!

Symptoms: My body is getting ready for labor! I am dilated 2cm, 70% effaced, and I lost my mucous plug last week! I’ve had a few contractions located toward my back, and the Braxton Hicks come and go all day long.

What I Miss: Eating the batter when I bake. I made Lemon Pound Cake this week and really wanted to lick the bowl!

Best Moment: Hearing over and over from the doctor that everything looks great! She also seems very surprised whenever she looks at my ankles to see that they are indeed not swollen.

What I'm Looking Forward To: The bean’s arrival, of course!

Bumpdate: 38 Weeks

We have just 13 days until baby's due date! We got a sneak peek of the bean at an ultrasound on Monday. Baby Klein was estimated to weigh 6 pounds 13 ounces, so it's fair to say we have passed the seven pound mark by now!

Mamma is measuring 42 1/4 inches. So far, no swollen ankles! I'm crossing my fingers this pregnancy woe escapes me.

When people ask how I'm feeling, the only thing I can think is big. Everything seems to be an effort these days, especially bending over! At the same time, I'm really trying to enjoy every minute because I know I'm going to miss being pregnant!

WILW: Pregnancy Edition

We are almost to 38 Weeks! My body is getting ready and I am 2cm dilated and 70% effaced. At my last appointment my doctor said it could be anytime, though I think our lil' bean is going to stay cooking a while longer.

Here are some of the things I've been loving over the past nine months...

I'm loving Mama Mio Tummy Rub butter! So far, no stretch marks! I've used it (and sometimes the oil) since basically the beginning. It smells fantastic, didn't bother me when I was going through morning sickness, and I love their "all goodies, no nasties" policy for what they put in their products.

I'm loving my snoogle! I have this one with the super soft gray t-shirt cover. I've been using it since around month four, and it's totally helped make me more comfortable at night (I used to be a stomach sleeper so making the switch to sleeping on my side was super hard).

I'm loving my birth ball! I've had it just for a couple weeks. I initially wanted it because it was recommended to use before labor to help baby get into position, and during labor to help get in pain coping positions. Since it's just laying around the house, though, I've just been using it to sit (while watching TV, blow drying my hair, basically anytime!). It's a nice relief when my back is hurting from regular chairs, especially at the end of the day.
Speaking of the end of the day, I'm loving these awesome cucumber face wipes. Because being nine months pregnant, sometimes I feel just too tired to wash my face at the sink (le sad!).

I'm loving my Soda Stream (thank you, husby!). Bubbly water with lemon, yes please! I've actually just gone through an entire CO2 container and need another one ASAP so I can get my carbonated water back!

More than anything, I'm loving my amazing almost-baby-daddy who has been such a saint during this pregnancy! From attending birthing and breastfeeding classes to making me ice cream sundaes, he has been so much more than I could have asked for! He is also keeping me calm in these last days as we wait for labor to begin!

Happy Birth Month, Baby!

It's March, the month of your birth, Baby Klein! We are so excited that the time is almost here! Mommy is much more apprehensive than daddy, and spends time thinking about when labor is going to start, and what is going to happen! Luckily, your daddy is very good at keeping everything calm.

We are very curious to know if you are a boy or a girl! And we spend lots of time wondering what you will look like! Will you have a head of dark hair like mommy did when she was born?

Or will you have peach fuzz like daddy?

We can't wait to find out!

Bumpdate: Full Term!

Oh my word, we are full term! Baby *could* make an arrival any day now! Of course, baby might decide to keep baking for three or more weeks, in which case I will keep on nesting, eating ice cream, Vietnamese beef bowls and Mexican food (the current cravings), practicing yoga, and spending time with this wonderful soon-to-be daddy:

I can't believe we are almost a family of three!!
