Friday Five

1. Hello, October!
As an October baby, I feel like a get a bit of an extra claim on the whole I Love October thing :) So, welcome October!

2. Giveaway Wednesday
On Wednesday I announced my second giveaway! Thank you to everyone who has entered the Freshly Picked Moccasin Giveaway! I'll be announcing the winner next Wednesday, so there's still time to participate if you haven't yet. I have a few more giveaways in the works as well, so Giveaway Wednesday will keep going strong. I just love being able to try out new products, and it's so much fun being able to share in the sweetness with one of you!

3. Pure Barre
I attended my first Pure Barre class last week! I took a few barre classes at a Scottsdale gym back when we lived in Arizona, but this was my first time at a Pure Barre establishment. This was also my first non-yoga class in over a year, and my, have I forgotten what the whole feel the pain thing is like!  Yoga classes are just pure relaxation to me, so this was so very different, but good different. I felt fantastic the whole rest of the day and the day after (despite being twelve kinds of sore). And then I fell down our stairs. Yep. The funny thing was that I was trying to get below Parker to spot him so he wouldn't fall - ha! If anything, it's taught me to be extra careful on our fairly steep wooden stairs. It was pretty scary to fall, but luckily Max was home and took the best care of me and even took time off work to bring me by the doctor for an x-ray to rule out any broken bones (no broken bones, just bruising). Even more luckily, I've been healing really well and very fast - so I'm hoping to be back at barre soon! Maybe Saturday for Barre in the Park? Is this not the cutest thing you've seen?? Bonus, the park is downtown and walking distance away!

4. Library
We love going to class at the library downtown, and have even started walking again now that the weather is cooling down (it's a good 25 minute walk, so on a hot and humid day it was the last thing I wanted to do - but now it's back to being the perfect outing). Parker's favorite part? The parachute at the end!

We perused the children's book section for fall finds, and unfortunately someone (or someones) beat me to it and scooped up every last kids pumpkin, Halloween, and fall board book. I did, however, manage to score some expository text on apples. Most of Parker's stories at home are narratives, so I jumped at the idea to check-out some informational books. And while we love our pumpkins this time of year, we are still getting tons of local Alabama apples in our CSA boxes (apple butter, anyone?) so I can't wait to do a mini-toddler lesson on apples complete with the books, a snack and a craft.

5. Happy Haunting
Sorry, apples. Pumpkins and Halloween still top our list these days!

Happy Friday!

  2. Happy October! Glad you are okay after your fall. We have a lot of stairs in our house and I always worry about one of us falling down them. What's the mummy book Parker is reading? It looks adorable! I love his sweet smile in the last pic! :)

    1. It's called: Where's My Mummy? I added a link to it in Amazon! The pictures are adorable, and now Parker spots out mummies when we see them in Halloween displays :)
