Husby and I have been using the "traditional anniversary gift" suggestions for anni gifts from the beginning (and when I say beginning I'm talking first anniversary, which is paper. Husby got all the brownie points for giving me a paper photocopy of a bracelet and then busting out the real diamond one 😍). Anyway, I love that it gives us a jumping off point each year for presents (and we actually toggle back and forth between the traditional and modern suggestions depending on the year). We've done practical (I've purchased a new belt for Max for the leather anniversary, and a polo shirt in a shade of turquoise like the water from our Bora Bora honeymoon for cotton), goofy (our faces on M&Ms for candy), cutesy (framed photos of ourselves together for wood), and responsible (a new dishwasher for appliances after ours broke - it was actually quite fancy and I'm still sad we had to leave it in Arizona when we moved!).
I'm still angling for a return to Tahiti for our 13th anniversary (😉), but dinner out with my love was just perfect for this anniversary. It fell on a Tuesday, and during this busy season of life, an uninterrupted meal for just the two of us is a rarity.
Plus, it was delicious to boot. I went with the pear salad (the honey pearls were my favorite) and the duck with foie gras sausage. Yum.
The corner table is so much fun - I loved being able to people watch and enjoy the light since sunset is still relatively late this time of year.
Anniversary dessert is always a yes.
Does anyone else do traditional gifts for anniversaries?
Happy anniversary! Love that y'all do the traditional gifts! I started our first anni with traditional and that was the only one haha!

I would totally be lost without the yearly suggestions - it's so hard thinking of gifts for husbands!!
DeleteY'all are so cute! Hubs and I started out doing the traditional gifts but then it got too hard so we stopped after a few years. The most thoughtful gift he ever got me was for our one year anniversary. The traditional gift is paper, so he bought a framed print of one of my favorite paintings - The Kiss by Gustav Klimpt. It still hangs in our living room. He's a keeper!
ReplyDeleteLindsay that's SO sweet!! Love that you can think of your anniversary every time you see it. Lol, I think the guidelines make getting gifts easier, not harder! Ha!
DeleteWhat a sweet anniversary celebration! We sometimes do traditional gifts (paper and wood). This year is wool (7), and we are thinking of getting a new rug, so that might fit!
ReplyDeleteLove the practical!! I wish I would have thought of that for last year because we are definitely in need of rugs for both our dining areas! Now you'll think of your anni every time you see it :)
DeleteHappy anniversary! We've done the same thing each year. I love coming up with creative ways to get him exactly what he needs to match the gift. And appliances? We had to get a new washer dryer (unexpectedly) for our 4th. This year we joked that our "wood" for 5 years was the house we just bought, or something dirty I won't mention since we are now broke after buying said house. ;) but I also found the coolest wooden watches that I was able to have the back engraved on. So much fun!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the watch idea!! And wood? The house! Clever! I never felt as GROWN UP as I did when we did the dishwasher as an anniversary present to ourselves - I'm guessing you felt the same about the washer/dryer, ha!
DeleteHappy Anniversary!! We've never done gifts for our anniversary, we've gone on a trip together. My husband doesn't like gifts of any kind he feels like "it's too much to have to try to figure out what someone wants at a specific point in time" or whatever, engineers... haha! I've been wanting to try The Bottle though! I'm going to show him your pictures, and fingers crossed we can have our 3rd anniversary dinner there later this month!!
ReplyDeleteBook the Mafia Table if you can get it! Or, the actual dining room is much more "romantic" (dim lighting) but much more packed - you're in your own little world if you have the corner booth :) Love the idea of doing trips instead of gifts!
DeleteHappy 8 years! What beautiful gifts.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I literally was doing happy dances when Max was hanging the chandelier!
