Happy 3 Month Birthday, Parker!

Parker turned three months old on June 18th. Here's what's new...

Weight: We are estimating 14 pounds!

Length: 25 inches

Clothes: The bean is wearing size 3-6 month and 6 month clothing. I put away all size 3 month clothing, which was so sad! Parker is now only in size 6 month jammies which means he’s too big for sleep sacks!

Health: Parker went through his three-month growth spurt early, starting the day daddy left for the UK. I was feeding him every 1-2 hours, even through the night!

Sleep: Parker slept through the night for the first time on his three-month birthday! 8:30PM – 6:30AM, yay! He’s done it twice more since then, but it seems like our hungry hungry hippo doesn’t yet want to give up his middle-of-the-night feedings.

Diet: Parker gets 100% mommy’s milk and 100% from mamma. Parker was doing a bottle of mommy’s milk every week given by dad, until he one day decided he didn’t like hated the bottle. As in screamed for hours instead of taking it. We’re giving it a break and will try again soon!

Baby Gear Love: Parker had been toting his Sophie the Giraffe with him in his car seat.

Crying: Little man cries when he’s hungry, needs a diaper change, or is tired.

Likes: Little man still loooooves to eat.  He also likes listening to music and listening to us sing, and having books read to him (he follows the pages and loves looking at the pictures). Parker also likes to track the brightly colored fish in our fish tank.

Social: Parker loves looking at the other babies in music class! He’s also interacting with us way more – such a vocal baby! Little man loves to have “conversations” – he’ll babble to us and we’ll babble right back. He makes coos and ooohs and eeees, and squeals of delight.

Milestones: Parker is sucking his left hand (or thumb if he can find it). He can hold his head up when propped on his tummy, and turns it back and forth when he’s being carried in the Baby Bjorn. No rolling over yet, but he continues to be a wiggle worm and can shimmy his way all the way across his play mat.

Sweet baby boy,

Today you turn three months old! You have grown and changed so much in these three months, and yet it seems like yesterday that your daddy and I were driving to the hospital with me in labor!

You have been smiling so much lately, which makes mommy’s heart happy. My favorite thing is to walk up to you after you have woken up from a nap and you will light up and smile and squeal when you see me! I love it!

You continue to be a hungry, hungry hippo (as daddy calls you) and are growing so fast! You have outgrown tons of clothing in your three short months! Mommy just had to pack up all your 0-3 month outfits.

Daddy had a business trip to England again this month, so it was just you and me for two whole weeks! We kept busy with lunch dates, Mommy & Me Yoga, Musicology and our Boy’s Mommy Club. We FaceTimed with daddy each day and you loved looking at him on my iPhone. Daddy missed you tons; we are very lucky that he works so hard for us!

You are still sleeping in the cradle next to our bed, but have started doing your long afternoon naps in your crib upstairs. My heart melts when you fall asleep in my arms and you will almost always do big smiles when you’ve fallen asleep, like you’re already dreaming of something wonderful.

Parker you give us so much joy, more than I ever thought was possible! I could spend hours just staring at you, watching you sleep or watching you observe the world around you. I’m beyond lucky that I get to spend my days with you, singing and reading and playing and talking. We love you so very much!

Hugs and Kisses, Mom & Dad

A Day in the Life: Growth Spurt Edition Day 2

8:30AM I wake up to this happy little man. I ended up putting him in bed with me somewhere around five in the morning after he had been getting up to feed every hour. Oh, dear! It's his three-month I need to eat all the time growth spurt. Seeing his smiles make everything better though! I feed Parker in bed and notice that he is officially too long for his sleep sack! His little feet stick out of the bottom and I'm sad that this means the end of these cute pajamas.

9:00AM I snuggle and sing to Parker and we do some tummy time on the bed.

9:30AM I take Parker up to his nursery to get him ready for the day. Next it's mamma's turn and Parker plays on his mat in the master bathroom while I shower.

10:00AM Breakfast time! I'm on a smoothie kick these days. This one is made from unsweetened vanilla almond milk, plain greek yogurt, frozen mango and half a banana. So creamy and delicious! Parker takes a snooze in his swing while I put a load of laundry in.

11:00AM Parker wakes up and eats, then we are off to yoga!

12:00PM We start class and it's just me and one other mom. We get through one round of breathing when Parker starts screaming. Little man is hungry! Again! I feed him right there in the baby-friendly room and put him down, now happy (and my thoughts about a growth spurt confirmed). Parker makes it halfway through class before getting fussy, and the instructor picks him up and keeps teaching while holding him. He finished class on his blanket next to my mat :)

1:30PM We stop by the post office on the way home and Parker nods off while we wait in line.

2:00PM We arrive home and head up to the nursery where I nurse Parker and FaceTime with daddy over in the UK! It's 10:00pm there and Max is in his hotel room ready to turn in for the night. Parker listens to Max's voice and watches him on my phone :)

3:00PM Parker is fed, swaddled, comforted and now sleeping in his crib. I pop downstairs for a quesadilla and some laundry.

4:00PM I hear baby boy's cries from downstairs and head up to his nursery. Hungry hungry hippo wants to eat again

5:00PM Parker is nursed and back to sleep. I collapse on the guest room bed.

6:ooPM I awake from a dead sleep to Parker's coos and wails. I walk in and he smiles upon seeing me. Best feeling in the world! I take him downstairs to feed him. We do tummy time on my chest after he eats and he gives me lots of giggly grins.

7:00PM The bean is now in his jams. He just started wearing size 6 month jammies! We rock out to Taylor Swift and iChat with my mom. Then, littlest man wants to eat again! This will be some growth spurt!

8:00PM Dinner for me! I pull a frozen breakfast braid out of the freezer and heat it up in the oven. Parker chills in his swing in the kitchen while I eat.

8:30PM We read Goodnight Moon in bed. I think about how much Parker is growing! He gets his nighttime feed and falls asleep eating. I watch him smile in his sleep, the sweetest thing ever. I carefully tiptoe him over to the cradle and put his little swaddled self down to sleep for the night (hopefully!).

11:00PM The bean is up and hungry again! I feed him in bed and get a FaceTime call from Max. It's morning in the UK and he is already starting his day! I tell him we miss him and that I love seeing his face :) It's such a funny time difference that one of us starts the day just as the other one finishes! I try not to think about the fact that this is just day two of Max's trip!

A Day in the Life...

Since daddy was out of the country last week, Parker and I decided to document a couple of our days to share with daddy, and to be able to look back on later on :) Parker also decided to begin his three-month growth spurt the exact day that daddy left! This meant lots of sleepless nights feeding the bean. Here's our "Day in the Life - Growth Spurt Edition" Day One...

9:30AM Parker wakes up for his morning feed (He was up several times throughout the night to eat, way more than usual!). He is still sleeping in his cradle which is in our room, so I pull him into bed with me to nurse him. I wish him a happy 12 week birthday and give him lots of smiles and kisses. After, I place Parker on his play mat in our bathroom. He looks at the toys and in the mirror and I shower and get ready for the day.

10:00AM It's time to get little man ready for the day. We head up to the nursery and I change him and get him dressed while singing to sweet baby boy. Parker lately wants to put everything in his mouth! He especially has been going for his left thumb - it's so sweet to see him try to suck on it!

Parker's fun outfit was courtesy of my sweet mom, and comes from The Gap :)

10:30AM We're back downstairs. Parker goes in his swing in the kitchen while I whip up breakfast. He takes a little nap while I eat and do dishes. Max calls on facetime to say that he's made it to the UK, where he'll be on business travel for the next two weeks (insert sad face!). It's almost dinnertime for him. We chat about his flight and I show him our sleeping son :)

11:30AM Parker wakes from his nap and we do a quick feeding before heading out for music class.

12:30PM We make it just in time for the start of our Infant Rythyms class at Musicology. The next hour-ish is spent singing, clapping, dancing, watching bubbles, and doing tummy time with a whole class of 0-6 month olds. We love it!

1:30PM We head out from Musicology and I drive through In-N-Out to pick up a yummy lunch! Parker nods off along the way - Musicology wears him out!

2:00PM We are home from Musicology! It's time for the bean to eat and go down for his afternoon nap in his crib.

3:00PM Little man is finally fed, soothed, rocked and now sleeping in his crib. Time for mamma to eat!

3:30PM I head upstairs to the guest room and try to take a nap (trying to do the "sleep while your baby's sleeping" thing). I never really fall asleep but I do get some rest!

4:30PM Enough resting, I decide to tackle my craft room which is currently a mess of pre-preggers clothes and old teaching supplies.

5:30PM I hear little man's cries and head into the nursery to get him. I change him and feed him.

6:00PM Play time on the mat in the den! Parker is not liking his tummy time today, though. We try it anyway and then I put Parker back on his back. We have yet to see him roll over yet but it could be any day now! I take out my new favorite children's book and read to him.

The book is called The Night You Were Born and the first few times I read it to our sweet baby I had a hard time not crying!

7:00PM Parker hangs out in his swing and I think about dinner. When Max is gone I usually snack or do something simple. I remember we have leftover kale in the fridge so I google "crispy kale" recipes thinking I can pair it with some chicken ravioli. Turns out crispy kale basically requires dumping the leafy green on a pan and sticking it in the oven. Sold!

8:00PM Parker sleeps in his swing while I clean up and do dishes.

8:30PM I put Parker's jams on, give him a swaddle and do a nighttime feed in bed before placing sleeping baby boy in his cradle.

2. I'm eating these like they're going out of style:

3. I'm patiently waiting for the sun to go down so it's cool enough to go outside with the bean:

4. I'm loving escaping the heat indoors with all these little ones (I mean, does life get any cuter??):
Bubbles time here!
5. Finally, I'm logging in lots of FaceTime with the husby when he was on business travel this past week!

(Early) Father's Day Fun

We celebrated Father's Day last weekend with a family day of fun (Max has to work on actual Father's Day, boo!). We started out our day with a special brunch for Max. Then, I had to get a little father-son photo shoot in!

Max loving on the baby boy who made him a daddy!

He loves our sweet little man so much!

And I love watching my boys together!

We live for the bean's smiles!

Can't get enough of them!

We gave daddy lots of presents for his first Father's Day, including books for him to read to Parker on how to be a "little gentleman", a personalized card, and (what Max really wanted) a shop vac for the garage!

Of course I think the best present was the matching father-and-son shirt set! So looking forward to seeing my boys rock these together!

I made an ice cream pie to celebrate the occasion!

I wasn't the only one taking pictures!

Ice Cream Pie directions: I mixed a half gallon of coffee ice cream in our kitchen aid, which made it nice and soft and easy to work with. I spread it in a graham cracker shell, let freeze, then covered with hot fudge and let freeze again. The finishing touches were the writing and Redi Whip border!

After dessert we headed outside to attempt Parker's first time in the pool!

Unfortunately, Parker told us that he needed a nap, stat!

So we tried again later in the day...

P's first official dip in the water! On his way to becoming a water baby!

Happy first Father's Day to my wonderful husband!
